Troubleshooting

Extension Not Appearing After Installation

  1. Refresh your browser tabs - Sometimes extensions need a page refresh to activate
  2. Check extension settings - Go to your browser’s extension management page:
    • Chrome/Edge: chrome://extensions/ or edge://extensions/
    • Firefox: about:addons
  3. Verify it’s enabled - Make sure the extension isn’t disabled
  4. Try reinstalling - If it still doesn’t appear, uninstall and reinstall

Can’t Annotate on Certain Websites

Some websites restrict extensions for security reasons:

This is a browser limitation, not an issue with Annote. Try annotating on a regular webpage.

Notes Not Syncing

  1. Check your login status - Click the Annote icon and verify you’re signed in
  2. Check your internet connection - Syncing requires an active connection
  3. Try signing out and back in - This can refresh your session
  4. Check browser permissions - Make sure Annote has permission to access websites

Performance Issues

If Annote seems slow:

  1. Close unused tabs - Too many tabs can slow down extensions
  2. Check for conflicts - Other annotation extensions might conflict
  3. Update your browser - Make sure you’re on the latest version
  4. Clear browser cache - Sometimes helps with extension issues
